Birth to Three programming has, in the past, been carried out at the local level in many different ways.  In some communities it is a non-profit organization, a tribe, a local government, a school district or some other agency.  The legislature made some changes a few years ago and indicated that in 2009 Birth to Three programming will come under the auspices of school districts.  However, school districts may opt to provide the services or contract the services out.

At this time Birth to Three programming for students within the Eatonville School District continues to be carried out by Pierce County.  As students are approaching three years of age, their Birth to Three coordinator schedules a meeting with preschool staff and if the child remains eligible for services, arranges for a smooth transition to the Developmental Preschool.
