Functional Academics 6-12 is a program emphasizing academics provided in a highly individualized manner for students with moderate disabilities. The students' disabilities prevent them from keeping up with some aspects of the curriculum in the general education setting. Students in Functional Academics spend several periods per day in the Functional Academics classroom focusing on academics and organization. The Functional Academics students typically have the opportunity throughout the day to enjoy electives and interact with their non-disabled peers. All students in Functional Academics 6-12 must have an Individualized Education Plan.
