School psychologists perform the bulk of special education evaluations. They test students in many area including intelligence, adaptive skills, academic skills, adjustment, as well as pull together the assessment data from other professionals and parents. School psychologists gather all evaluation data before writing the "team" report. School psychologists also communicate with a student's physician and any outside psychologists who may be involved with the student. The School psychologists determines whether the legal criteria for eligibility are met and make recommendations that will assist the student with their current difficulties.
School psychologists also assist with behavioral concerns in the educational environment and assist with planning for student programming needs.
