Eatonville Special Services
Eatonville School District
Transition (18-21)

Transition services are offered to all special education students who wish to receive them.  Transition services are those services which assist a student to move into post-secondary life and may include working toward college, voc/tech school, independent living, a sheltered workshop, a group home, etc.

Students in the transition program should have met their graduation requirements including passing required tests to graduate.

Presently students in the transition program may work up the continuum from classroom duties, to school duties, to school district duties, to community placement.   Students are taught their jobs then are expected to carry them out with varying degrees of independence depending upon their abilities.  Students are supervised by either a teacher or paraeducator at all times.  Showing up to "work" regularly, on time, and prepared for the work day is important.    Students may be "fired" from their work site by the teacher.  In that case, they may be placed at a more closely supervised work site until they demonstrate they are prepared to again work at the site.
